For someone who has made a career in the technology field and depending on tech tools, I still have those trying moments as a business owner like everyone else. The past 24 hours has been quite interesting to say the least. Here is a quick review of my situation.
This one is a doozy!
I realized lately that I haven’t been fully using my Google My Business account, so I asked a couple of clients to add to my review section just to see if the data shifts. (I know, I am a data geek) I decided to also spread it out. So I had one put one in about a month ago and another put one in yesterday.
To my surprise, I couldn’t see either review. So I reached out to Google My Business. They sent me a return email pretty quick stating that since I was a new member, it would take some time to see reviews. I replied quickly that I have been a member for at least 5 years…
STRIKE ONE!
What was their next reply? Check it out…
Hi Dennis,
Thank you for contacting Google Business Profile Support! I hope you are doing well.
We understand your concern about reinstate the reviews for your business profile.
To protect business owners and customers, we have systems in place that remove reviews that include any of the following: inappropriate content, advertising, spam, off-topic reviews, or conflicts of interest.
Sometimes, our algorithms report and remove legitimate reviews. We can’t reinstate these reviews. These measures help ensure that reviews on Google properties are relevant, helpful, and trustworthy.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
If you’d like more help on this issue, reply to this email. We’ll be happy to help! For help with other issues, you can always reach us via our Help Center.
Within 48 hours of our last interaction, you’ll receive a short survey via email. We’d love to hear your feedback about our interaction today and your overall experience with Google Support.
I then replied that it was a review of my business strategy company and I could assure them it was not inappropriate. In fact, I sent them the link and asked if they could do a test review and I can see if it appeared.
STRIKE TWO
Their next reply was that they could not do that and again sent me the canned response from the last email.
STRIKE THREE… YOU ARE OUT!
WOW… Nice to know Google has my back… NOT.
Cant wait till they send me that survey!
So what are my next steps?
I am going to do some more tests to see if I can get some reviews on Google My Business but I am not going to spend a ton of time on it. Yes, it is Google so I would love to have more ‘love’ from them but Google My Business is not the only game in town.
So I decided to do a work around and asked my clients to beef up my LinkedIn reviews instead. And put more on my website as well… And sprinkle the testimonials thru my social media feeds.
I will also do more YouTube videos on my GoalsToResults channel to get THAT algorithm working in my favor.
Google I love Ya but sometimes you can be a royal pain in the @$$.
